SIERRA LEONE GUEST OF HONOR

Casablanca, March 8, 2019 - Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, the 6th International Africa Development Forum, organized by the Africa Development Club of Attijariwafa bank group, will be chaired by His Excellency the President, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio of the Republic of Sierra Leone. 

Accompanied by a strong delegation, the President of Sierra Leone, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio, will chair the launch of this edition of the Forum, which will focus on: 

• Economic advocacy with regard to intra-African integration; 

• The networking of countries and investors in the Investment Market; and 

• Connecting more than 1,500 economic actors from 20 countries from the Continent with pre-arranged B to B meetings. 

Sierra Leone will also be strongly active in the Investment Market. The delegation will include the Minister of Finance, M. Jacob Jusu Saffa, the Minister of Trade and Industry, M. Peter Bayuku Konteh, as well as the Chief Executive Officer M. Lexmond Koroma of the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA). The delegation will present Sierra Leone’s National Development Plan (MTNDP) and investment opportunities in key growth sectors to meet its development objectives. The Investment Marketplace this year hosts Sierra Leone, as guest of honor, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Morocco and Rwanda.

Committed to African development, Sierra Leone, through its participation under the leadership of the highest authority of the country, at the 6th International Africa Development Forum, reflects the convergence of views, at the highest levels of private and public sector actors to support concrete, impactful South-South cooperation, and active African solidarity. 

The International Africa Development Forum is considered a major platform, in Africa, that reflects the economic and political community’s commitment to intra-continental dynamics, which helps to concretize the spirit of a community that believes in its own strengths. 

The International Africa Development Forum is an initiative that was started in 2010, driven by one of the largest Pan-African investment funds on the Continent, Al Mada, a shareholder of Attijariwafa bank. Since its creation, the Forum has brought  together more than 7500 operators from 36 countries and has more than 17000 B to B meetings generated.
